Check it out, I made my first wreath!
I have seen some cute burlap wreaths lately and wondered how big of a deal they are to make. Surprisingly, they're pretty easy. And once you have the hang of it, you can make all sorts of different looks to suit your tastes. Take these for example...
If you want to make your own, you'll need:
- Burlap Ribbon
- Wire Wreath Frame
- Optional Cute Extras (like flowers, birds, large wooden letters, or what ever you like!)
First, attach the ribbon to the wreath frame. You can tie it on with a knot, or just staple it like I did.
Next, just grab some ribbon and pull it through the wires. There isn't really a trick to it, you just pull through a blob of it, then pull through another blob through the next wire opening. The size and poofiness of the wreath will depend on if you pull a lot or a little through the wires. For mine, I pulled the yellow ribbon through all three spaces, then pulled the gray and white chevron through all three spaces.
Repeat until you make it all the way around the wreath, and adjust the pieces and poofiness to your liking.
On the back, trim the ribbon(s) like so...
Then tie them together, and tuck the ends in..
Last, add any additional decorative pieces to it that you want. I used a couple red burlap birds from the craft store to match my door. Then hang and enjoy!
