A Peek into Our Home School Room

Want to see where some of our magic takes place? This is our school room...
I found the desks on Amazon, and think they're just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. Well, except for the boys that use them. :) The legs will extend up to make them into full-size desks in the future.

Here is a closer look at our art lines...
I made them using cute red drawer knobs and picture-hanging wire from Hobby Lobby. That's also where I found the little red wall baskets.
I keep "stuff I need to deal with" in the top basket, my oldest gets the second basket, my middle gets the third basket, and the last basket is scrap paper that they can help themselves to whenever they feel like making artwork. This picture is from earlier in the year, so it's full of Kindergarten artwork. Now I use one art line for each boy.

The corner under the art lines is now a tad fuller than it was in the first picture. It's where I keep our work boxes, library book bucket, and a jumperoo for my littlest student. :)

We also temperarily have an over-crowded bookshelf in the corner... until we can get a bigger one that will be moved into the living room.

The other side of the room is my desk.  It came from my favorite store in the world, Ikea. I love that I can tuck away all sorts of things in the cube shelves, and I can use the desk surface as a sewing table. Well, when it is clean. And when I find time to sew, which is not often these days. :)
In case you were wondering, that is a life-sized emperor penguin on the wall. No school room would be complete without it.

You may also have noticed my fabulous BALL DESK CHAIR! My doctor's office uses them and she recommends them as they're super for posture and help prevent back fatigue. I thought I'd give it a try and I quite like it. (She only recommends the one kind, which I linked to, as it has an adjustable back.) In fact, my son had a ball chair before I did. Last year he used this sitting ball, which was a life saver for kindergarten.

And here's the closet. My husband mounted shelves in it so I can maximize storage space. And it catches some of our book overflow too.
I use the inside of the closet door to post charts and things so our walls aren't all cluttery-looking. Each one is laminated for durability and mounted with sticky velcro so we can pull it down and use it, then just stick it back up again.

Last of all I thought I'd share a "before" picture of this room... back when it was a dark red office.
It's hard to believe that was the same room! I generally like red but it was way too intense for a small room we use as a learning space. So this was the first room we painted after moving in last fall. It only took us a couple tries to find a shade that worked... (As in, we painted the entire room more than once. Thankfully my husband loves me anyway.) But we eventually got there, and now we love it!
